Prioritize to Overcome Overload

You are feverishly working on a request from one manager when another drops a rush request on you. You are clearly in a bind, but rather than say anything to either of them, you stay late and take work home to get it finished. Sound familiar?

Too much to do in too little time? Too much pressure from constant deadlines? Move from the reactive mode to a proactive mindset. When overwhelmed with requests or demands, take a few minutes to Stop - Think - then Act.

The following steps will help you to increase everyone's effectiveness:
1. Use the strengths of others
2. Don't procrastinate. Get it done the first time.
3. Organize your work area
4. Organize time
5. Use the Action Register

Use the following list to help set priorities:
1. Emergencies
2. Customer Demands
3. Business goals below target
4. Day-to-Day tasks
5. Process improvement initiatives
6. Personal action plans
7. Personal preference
